Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of accord.social (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use accord.

Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country (and at least 13). Authentication, including any multi-factor or passkey settings, is handled by our provider, Supabase.

Your content

You keep ownership of the lists and content you create. You grant us the limited licence needed to host, store and display your content according to the visibility settings you choose, for example showing a public list to logged-out visitors, or a shared list to your connections. You’re responsible for the content you post and for having the right to post it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights, including intellectual property;
• post content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, or unlawful;
• attempt to access other users’ private content, friend-group membership, or profiles you’re not connected to;
• scrape, overload, probe or interfere with the service, or bypass its security or rate limits;
• misuse the catalogue integrations or the underlying open-data sources.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms. In short: your visibility choices are enforced, your friend groups stay private to you, and we don’t sell your data or run ads.

Catalogue and third-party data

Book and place details, cover art and map data come from third-party open-data sources (currently OpenLibrary and OpenStreetMap). That data is provided by those projects under their own terms, and we make no warranty as to its accuracy or completeness.

Paid features

Some features may be offered as part of a paid subscription. If we introduce paid plans, we’ll show the price and terms clearly before you buy, and billing will be handled by a third-party payment processor.

Termination

You can stop using accord and delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk.

accord is in beta

accord is early software and is offered free while it is in beta. Please expect rough edges: bugs, occasional downtime, and features that change or disappear. We may reset data, change how things work, or contact you about problems you run into.

Two practical consequences. First, keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose: you can export any list to CSV from its “more actions” menu. Second, if something breaks in a way that matters, tell us at [email protected] rather than assuming we already know.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and, during beta, without any promise of availability or of continued access to your data. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data beyond what applicable law requires. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We’ll update the “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use accord after a change means you accept the updated terms.
